Lake Ladki Scheme

Beneficiaries:  Girls aged 0 to 18 years
Description: “Lek Ladki” scheme has been launched from 1st April 2023, replacing the “Majhi Kanya Bhagyashree” (Revised) scheme. This scheme is applicable only to girls from yellow or orange ration card holder families. The annual income of the beneficiary family should not exceed Rs. 1 lakh.

Objective

  1. Increase birth rate by encouraging the birth of girls.
  2. Promote girls' education.
  3. Reduce child mortality and prevent child marriage.
  4. Reduce malnutrition.
  5. Reduce out-of-school girls to zero.

Nature of the scheme

  1. After the birth of a girl: ₹5,000
  2. Class 1: ₹6,000
  3. Class 6: ₹7,000
  4. Class 11: ₹8,000
  5. After completing 18 years: ₹75,000
  6. Total benefit: ₹1,01,000

Criteria / Procedure

  1. This scheme will be applicable to a maximum of two girls born on or after April 1, 2023.
  2. If there is a boy and a girl, only the girl will get the benefit.
  3. Family planning certificate will be required for the third installment of the first child and for the second installment of the second child.
  4. If twins are born in the second delivery, one or both the girls will get the benefit. However, a family planning surgery is required after that.
  5. The beneficiary's family must be a resident of the state of Maharashtra.
  6. The beneficiary's bank account must be in the state of Maharashtra.
  7. The annual income of the family should not exceed ₹1 lakh.
