Anganwadi centers are functioning at Khairi, Valmazari, Pitezari and Amgaon/Khurd under Gram Panchayat Khairi Valmazari, which are playing an important role in the overall development of children. These centers provide nutritious food to children, and prepare them for school education through pre-school education. Special attention is paid to nutrition and health management for pregnant and lactating mothers and they are given proper guidance. Apart from this, timely vaccination and health check-up facilities are available for children. Awareness programs on cleanliness and health are implemented with the help of ASHA workers. Due to these centers, children are being physically, mentally and socially developed and empowered for a bright future.

Anganwadi centers provide nutritious food to pregnant mothers and young children to prevent malnutrition and improve their health. Under this scheme, pregnant and lactating mothers are provided with food rich in essential proteins, vitamins and nutrients, which ensures proper health care for them and their babies. Also, young children are provided with a balanced diet, which includes milk, fruits, pulses, dry fruits and green leafy vegetables. Mothers and parents are guided on proper diet through regular health check-ups and nutrition awareness programs. This initiative is bringing positive changes in the physical and mental development of children and is helping to prevent malnutrition.
In Anganwadi centers, young children are vaccinated on time, which protects them from dangerous diseases. Vaccines against TB, tetanus, polio, measles, hepatitis and other infectious diseases are given, so that the health of children remains good and they are protected from serious diseases in the future. Also, necessary vaccination campaigns are carried out for pregnant and lactating mothers, which ensures the health of both the mother and the child. Under this campaign, the importance of vaccination is explained to the parents and they are made aware about vaccination from time to time. A special maternal and child counseling center is functioning for women and mothers, where they are guided on pregnancy, breastfeeding, nutrition and family planning. Through this center, pregnant women are advised on how to take care of their diet and health. Also, information is given about the importance of breastfeeding and its appropriate duration for the nutrition of the newborn. Women are guided on appropriate and safe options regarding family planning, so that they can make healthy decisions and shape the future of their family in a healthy way. Due to this initiative, women are becoming more self-reliant and aware and their health is improving.
Every year in the month of September, ‘Poshan Maah’ is celebrated, in which nutrition awareness activities are carried out. Under this initiative, various programs are organized to convince pregnant and lactating mothers, young children, school students and villagers of the importance of a balanced diet. Activities like Poshan Taat competition, diet awareness sessions, weight and nutritional status check-up of children, health guidance for women and distribution of special nutritional food at Anganwadi centers are taken up. This helps in preventing malnutrition and brings about a positive change in the people regarding a balanced diet. The main objective of this campaign is to inculcate the habit of a healthy lifestyle and make every person switch to a nutritious diet.
Under this campaign, awareness and proactive measures are implemented for equal status, education and safety of girls through the Integrated Child Development Service Scheme. Special attention is given to districts where the birth rate of girls is low to improve the sex ratio.
Under this, Government Baby Care Kits will be provided to every newborn after delivery in Government Hospitals of the State. The price of this kit is 1500 rupees. A baby care kit will contain soap, oil, cream, lotion and clothes. A total of 16 items will be kept in the baby care kit.
Health, nutrition and pre-primary education are provided through Anganwadi workers under the Integrated Child Development Service Scheme. For this, model Anganwadi centers are being created, in which children are provided education and nutrition in a pleasant environment. Also, skill development training is provided to adolescent girls and women.
The “Lake Ladki” scheme has been launched from 1st April 2023, replacing the “Majhi Kanya Bhagyashree” (Revised) scheme. This scheme is applicable only to girls from yellow or orange ration card holder families. The annual income of the beneficiary family should not exceed Rs. 1 lakh.
